Nothing goes futilely

Yesterday i wrote about Common Mistakes In Newly Created Forums which turned out to become a pretty popular post, and is still driving me traffic from different sources. :)

Yes, the topic itself is popular, but i don’t think that’s the main reason this blogs’ traffic is doubled of Infinity Graphics traffic (which is 2 months older than this one).

The key is the time and the effort i put in that post, i spent 3 hours writing that post.
Don’t misunderstand me, i’m not saying that i spent 3 hours sitting in front of the screen, writing…no, i mean that i invested three hours thinking about the clauses mentioned there, about how to phrase the article, and how not to make it look too “loaded”.

Of course, the main topic was minimizing the mistakes in forums, but bloggers have got to understand the mentality of todays’ average reader..

Read my “commandments” when aiming for the best results, the guide to the top quality post :)

Common Mistakes In Newly Created Forums

This is one of those promised articles i’ve talked about a while later, well, the first in the series is about common mistakes in new forums, or common mistakes among new forum owners(newbies).

I’m a forum owner myself, infact, i was the first to own a free forumer PhpBB forum in the SnootySims community (AKA SimVibe, With B.Purchase), which later led into a huge vibe of new forums: Pink Imoen, Kosara, Chocolate Insanity and more of those…

I’m a forum owner for about 9 months now, my newest and only current forum is Infinity Forums, that is about 4 months old now :)

In this post i’m (mainly) going to talk about common mistakes among forum owners, and will of course, mention alot of essential info on not just how to raise a good forum, but how to keep it up :)

What do you look for?

Yeah i know, my latest posts were all about blogging and such, but it seems that i get more addicted to it each day, and i love writing about it.

Todays’ post is another one of a discussion, i will throw a point here, and i hope that we’ll have a prodigal discussion about it, just like we had about the other posts…

I read about 5-15 blogs daily (it varies, alot  ), and i have a reason for reading every single one of them, those vary from personal blogs, commercial ones, blogs about blogging and sometimes blogs about journeys and that stuff, i look at about 50 new (that i never read before) blogs daily, but i only read about 5-7 of them, because others don’t seem to interest me.

Here’s a list of some of my favourite blogs, each one with the reason i read it:

ProBlogger- a blog for bloggers, those who seek to become probloggers, and those who are already there and want to get better…I read this one because there’s so much to benefit from the things that are written there, and it’s one of my must-reads.

Imoen26 Livejournal- Shadow and I are very close net friends, we worked and are working together with both of our forums, Shaodws’ blog interests me because shadow puts effort in her posts, and the posts in her blog looks clean and is very interesting to read.

XPDude::Illusion- XPDude is one of my best net friends, and is certainly the one that helped me the most with technical stuff, in his blog(that contains exceptional sims 2 downloads by the way), he writes about almost everything he has to say, he’s a senior blogger (2 years) and his writing style certainly attracts my eyes, he also shares alot of details about his blog, which make me more curious.

Too Sexy For My Hair- A young womans’ struggle blog, where Lori, a cancer patient writes about her cancer struggle and everyday life, What attracts me in this blog is that Lori shares alot of deep emotions, and i’m moved by her story.

—-

Of course those are just a tad bit of what i daily read and look at, but what i want to discuss here is the reason…for those of you who do read blogs, why do you read them? why do you come to This blog? what is the special thing about it in your point of view?

This is part of a long term project i’m working on in order to understand blogging mentality better.

Blog because you want

Alot of discussions are up on how to determine a good blog, and there are of course alot of factors that affect the blogs’ reputation and quality, factors that cannot be counted in one single post.

Today, in my own personal blog, i’m going to post about one factor, that is, i think…the most important factor that we have to look at when valuing a personal blog: “The Passion to blog”.

I’ve stumbled across a new blogger, called Shadow, that didn’t seem to value her livejournal too much, eventhough i did , we discussed it over her and my blog, while we both had something you can call “convincing reasons” why her was a good/”pointless” blog.

The point is that i had the winning card  , when you blog with passion, no matter what is it, it might be passion to blog, write, discuss, rave, rant, or any type of passion, there is no such a thing that says “Pointless blog”….when something moves you (and i know something moves Shadow when she blog), when something you write about is filled with personal expriences and events, it can’t be rated as good/bad/ok, because it’s not something that you can rate, personal things weren’t met to be rated..they were met to be shared.

Another thing that is important when you write in your personal blog (again, there is no set rules, but tips are always welcomed i guess), is investing while posting…i’ve seen alot of posts like:

Today i got a new cam, yay!!!

Or

I talked with my boyfriend for 3 hours today, he’s so cute, i love him so much, and i bought a pizza

Ok, so this is your personal blog, but you have to keep in mind that people are reading it, and you have to keep in mind that if your posts won’t have some kind of meaning, people won’t visit your blog again…

Well thought-out and expressed posts are essential in order to enable maximized sharing exprience for the visitor, which will probably make him come back to find out about your blog more often.

(Btw Shadow: your blog met the good invested posts criteria aswell  )

Do you blog?

I’ve just read some posts from the very successful Problogger.net blog, i’m a permanent visitor there, this blog helped me alot since i started blogging, and i was lucky to find out about it in the early stages, when i first got Infinity Gfx opened..

When i read there i feel a very strong passion to blog, just to go and write about something, my life, my graphics, my rants, my ideas…anything :!: …I’m becoming a blogs addict very quickly, and i’m even considering opening a blog in cooperation with some of my friends over here in Israel…

Anyway, this isn’t one of my promised articles about blogging, no…it’s just some kind of a discussion question: “Do you Blog?”

And if you do, what is your blog about? why do you blog? and what do you think are the main keys for success? take five minutes of your time to write here so we can all benefit

Who really benefited from Live 8?

“What?! another commercial advertisment??? God….”

I watched Live 8, I loved watching Live 8, it started from 4 PM until 4 AM in Israel, and it was one of the best shows i’ve ever seen, but it was on TV….

I signed the petition at Live8Live.com, i think it might help…but that’s not the topic i want to talk about in this post, my topic is about the people who benefited the most from Live 8 show..: The T.V. Channels

You know, alot of you will jump and disagree saying “the singers!!”, no…and maybe yes, maybe they are benefiters, but at least they’ve done something

I don’t know how did it go in your place, but Israeli Channel 10 got two novice broadcasters to talk while there were breaks and stuff…and from here it just got worst:

-First of all, they said the African countries have debts of 1 Billion Dollars to the other countries, but then a “little” correction was made, a little one…the African Contires have debts of 40 Billion Dollars! see…a little correction :?

But this isn’t the case really…the fact that Tal Berman and his friend were fooling around with the finger tapping thing (fact:every 3 seconds a child dies) wasn’t that bad for me, the fact that they talked about their “hot” partnet in London instead of talking about the petition didn’t really bother me…i knew they were dorks….my real problem was the advertisments..

At 6 PM…2 hours after the beginning of the broadcast in Israel, i started counting how much time goes on between each advertisments round, 9 Minutes, and i’m sure it’d be alot lower if i didn’t count the straight 20 minutes of the Pink Floyd unite..cause those were the only 20 minutes that didn’t include adverts at all…

Each Ad round included 3-6 commercials, now, tell me…10th Channel, how much did those pay for a 21% watching, prime time? i’m sure the amount can help the African children alot…

Some of you might say “It’s Israel, ours were great”, or “didn’t you expect that to happen??”….but it’s my blog, and it’s my rules…
